SCIENCE - ETHICS - POLITICS DAY

JUNE 18th 2021, A VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM

Welcome to this years’ Sciene-Ethics-Politics Day

Join us for a Day full of discussing Equality in Science

This year’s Science-Ethics-Politics Day (SEPD) deals with the question “How equal is Science?”. It is important to address this topic, since we as scientists think of ourselves as a global community. From that point of view, a lot of questions arise dealing with if the general parameters for scientists in different countries are the same? Is their funding the same? Are there problems with intercultural communication and collaborations? What about the role of ethics and ethical standards in different cultures/countries? We look at these questions with global-overview and more case-specific talks.

We are pleased to provide the SEPD as a framework for (doctoral) researchers to learn from and discuss with the speakers and each other. Furthermore, more specific hands-on knowledge will be communicated in workshops. The event will close with a screening of the movie “Little Joe”.

The SEPD is organized by doctoral researchers of the International Max Planck Research School for Infectious Diseases and Immunity (IMPRS-IDI) based at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin and the Center of Infection Biology and Immunity (ZIBI).

The lectures as well as the discussion are open for the public and the whole event is free of charge. You can register for a workshop and select three of them ranked according to your preferences during registration. The event will be held in English. Food and drinks are provided.

Organizing Committee: Florian Grüblinger, Lukas Heiberger, Vajiheh Jafari, Marie Urbicht, Moritz Winkler, Christian Denkhaus and Franziska Stressmann.
